Tips To Stage Your Home So Your Kids Don't Ruin It

Blog

When you have kids, the idea of staging and selling your home might be overwhelming. How will you continue to live your real life while making your house look perfect for strangers who can come by with little (or no) notice?

The good news is that it can be done with some extra planning. Here are a few sneaky tricks you can employ no matter what size your family is.

Hire a Professional.

If you have a special situation that makes staging difficult, consult with an interior designer who specializes in this service. Talk with them about your family's specific style and challenges. An experienced professional can help you find ways to hide kids' toys and clothes, minimize your other belongings, and know where to focus your cleaning and upkeep efforts for the best results.

Plan Away Activities.

The best way to keep your kids from making a mess in your house? Get them out of it. While the home is on the market, look for opportunities to go away with the kids and have fun outside your four walls. You could plan a family vacation, for instance, and leave the agent to handle showings. You could also enroll the kids in regular summer or after-school activities so they spend less time in the house, or ask friends and family to help by inviting the kids to other homes to play.

Minimize Loose Parts.

Look around your home and think about all the small items that could become scattered around the house. Many kids' toys, for instance, have lots of little parts you'll have to chase down and corral. Why not put those in storage, if possible, and encourage the children to play with toys that stay easier to manage? Adults may also be able to stick to things that don't create a large mess, such as reducing knickknacks that need dusted or using simpler recipes with fewer ingredients.

Develop Useful Habits.

Rather than waiting for a call from your realtor to alert you that you need to clean up, do a little at a time. Every evening, help the kids put away all their toys and clothes. Start a load of laundry and run the dishwasher before you go to bed, even if they're not full loads. Keep cloth wipes handy and swipe across shelves or tables when you pass them. And make a list of decor or goods you want to buy — and save the list for after you move.

Being a parent means that you have to juggle a variety of goals and challenges. But you can also reduce those challenges by thinking outside the box. As you prepare your property to sell, apply these steps and your move will be a more enjoyable and profitable experience.

Interior Designs: Reviving Wallpaper, Vinyl Stickers and Printed Patterns

Hi, my name is Carole, and I am still in love with a lot of the decorative ideas that surrounded me in my childhood during the late 1970s and early 1980s. I love shag carpeting, patterned wallpaper and wild couch prints that look like they match your bell bottoms. However, I am not stuck in the past. Instead, I have learned to integrate these passions into my overall sense of style. If you want to learn how to integrate the best design ideas from previous decades into your home decor without making your home seem old or dated, please explore. This blog is going to cover all of the tips you need.
