6 Items Your Interior Designer Will Use To Curate An Eclectic Style For Your Condo

Blog

An eclectic style can be tricky to pull together, but it looks fabulous when done correctly. While it may look like a mish-mash of different, random items collected over the years, it is actually carefully planned. The key is to separate main pieces of furniture by 50 or more years. If you have a Victorian sofa, you would want to add a Mid-Century Mod side chair, and a rustic farm table. It's all about the interesting juxtaposition created when you pair two very different things -- old with new, sleek with rustic, Louis XIV with leopard print. A high-rise condo interior designer can help you pull it all together, but start thinking about the following items:

1. Texture: Good eclectic design has lots of texture, too; think sisal rugs, sheepskin pelts, leather cubes, and hammered metal. Texture placed strategically will draw your eye through the space, which is a good thing.

2. Wild Wallpaper: The latest addition to many eclectic spaces is wallpaper -- and not your grandmother's petite floral design, either. Today's eclectic wallpapers feature huge floral prints, wild colors, and strange subject matter. It is also -- thankfully! -- available as a re-positionable wallpaper, instead of a permanent application; more like a giant wall sticker.

3. Light-Up Mood Balls: Add more quirkiness with mood balls. These translucent balls have LED lights inside for a soft glow in your choice of colors. Fill a rustic, hand-scraped bread bowl with modern mood lights for an interesting twist.

4. Upholstered Furniture in Vivid Colors: Eclectic doesn't work as well with a neutral color scheme -- it needs color. While you can have some neutral pieces, you need a focal point in a vibrant color, like an emerald green sofa or a hot pink arm chair.

5. Plants: Plants make everything look good. Designers love to use them in unusual ways, like wall pockets. Wall pockets are simply a plant container hung on the wall. Your designer may add multiple wall pockets of succulents or greenery to create an entire wall of plants as a focal point in your condo. When you live in a high-rise, seeing plants can be extra important to you.

6. Oversized Art: Bigger, better, and bolder is what works for art in an eclectic-style room. Your designer will know where to go to find good art and how to get it framed. The important thing is that you like it; art is subjective, and it can be hard to know what someone else will like.

Whether you are creating an eclectic style or a traditional one, trust your designer to work with you to pick out the best pieces for you condo.

Interior Designs: Reviving Wallpaper, Vinyl Stickers and Printed Patterns

Hi, my name is Carole, and I am still in love with a lot of the decorative ideas that surrounded me in my childhood during the late 1970s and early 1980s. I love shag carpeting, patterned wallpaper and wild couch prints that look like they match your bell bottoms. However, I am not stuck in the past. Instead, I have learned to integrate these passions into my overall sense of style. If you want to learn how to integrate the best design ideas from previous decades into your home decor without making your home seem old or dated, please explore. This blog is going to cover all of the tips you need.
